Carmel English Medium School
Nestled on the tranquil shores of Vypin Island, some 11 kilometres from the bustling city of Ernakulam, Carmel English Medium School stands today as a beacon of hope and learning for the coastal fisherfolk community it so lovingly serves. Founded in 2002 under the patronage of Our Lady of Mount Carmel and administered by the Sisters of the Apostolic Carmel, the school has, over two and a half decades, grown from a single nursery classroom into a full-fledged ICSE institution offering education from Lower Kindergarten to Class X.

Founder
Mother Veronica of the Passion (1823–1906) Born Sophie Leeves in Istanbul in 1823, Mother Veronica of the Passion experienced a profound spiritual awakening in her youth that drew her to the Catholic faith. She came to India in 1863 and served at Calicut, where she was moved to found a congregation of teaching Sisters devoted to the education of women and girls. Returning to France, she established the Congregation of the Sisters of the Carmelite Third Order Regular — the Apostolic Carmel — at Bayonne on 16 July 1868. Its mission, from its founding to today, has centred on the holistic education and empowerment of women and girls, particularly the poor and marginalised.
Superior General
Sr. Maria Nirmalini A.C., re-elected as Superior General of the Apostolic Carmel Congregation, has outlined a renewed vision for religious life centred on listening, shared responsibility, and compassionate presence. She envisions education as a mission of inclusion and compassion, having championed the principle that no child in the congregation's institutions should be denied education on account of economic hardship. Under her leadership, the congregation extended humanitarian outreach to Manipur, earthquake-affected Myanmar, and Sri Lanka, while strengthening governance through new commissions and a new mission in Germany.
